Cirque Du Soleil, Dralion has arrived in Fresno. With shows starting tomorrow, Nov. 7 and continuing through Sunday, Nov. 11 there are plenty of opportunities to see the shows that promise an experience of wonders.
“Cirque Du Soleil started in 1984 and has been growing for 28 years and has 22 different shows and each show has its own storyline and concept,” said Dralion Publicist, Julie Desmarais.
Eleven of those shows are touring shows that may be seen all over the world. The show appearing in Fresno is Dralion.
“Dralion is a show about harmony and features 54 performers out which 26 are from China. It has a strong Asian flavor,” said Desmarais.
The show, according to Desmarais, is about the age old quest of finding harmony between humans and nature. That quest is a key component in the creation of the show’s name as it brings the world together via east and west.
“Dralion is a fusion of east and west where the name was drawn by two symbols: the dragon representing the East and the lion representing the west,” said Desmarais.
And of that fusion, the four elements will be personified and represented in the show.
With that fusion will come a plethora of acts. According to Desmarais, there will be aerial hoops, aerial pas de deux which is an aerial dance requiring an intertwined couple to fly over the stage in a blue cloth where they will perform many acrobatic moves, bamboo poles, dralions and so much more.
When considering the acts that are going to be present one might wonder just how many people are involved in such a show. Desmarais said that this tour alone includes just over 100 people from 17 countries but overall, the number of performers is much greater.
“Overall there are 1,400 different artists and each show is a company in and of itself,” said Desmarais.
