An iconic venue in the Tower District has recently been revived with more life than it’s seen in the past few years.
Strummer’s, formerly known as the Starline, reopened in June 2013 with a fresh look and a big line up of bands. As part of the venue’s reinvention, its restaurant has been revamped.
One of the first things you’ll notice when you enter the restaurant is the modern art that is hanging on the walls and the high energy electronic, indie and alternative rock music playing throughout the venue.
This part of Strummer’s features a large bar that stretches out onto the patio area, plenty of booths and tables throughout the venue, as well as a few classics arcade game machines located in back corner of the restaurant.
Strummer’s restaurant has a small menu of a handful of different foods among which are pizzas, burgers and chicken wings.
Their prices range from $5-$11, and may feel just a little on the high side for food. Although the portion sizes are great and the atmosphere of the restaurant makes up for it.
The restaurant is open seven days a week. Since August, Strummer’s has hosted a concert series which has been highlighted by such bands as Panic! at The Disco, P.O.D, and just this past Friday, Jimmy Eat World.
Fans have flooded the venue to experience a concert from bands that quite possibly have been considered their favorites over the years.
The concert side of the venue is a moderately sized room with tables and benches alongside the walls. Sometimes (depending on the show), there are also tables in the middle, and a small bar in the back corner facing the stage.
Strummer’s hosts shows that range from all ages to 21 and over.
