Not an Anime fan? Here’s a list of series that’ll get you hooked
Over the years, anime has become an expressive medium that depicts storytelling through a spectrum of emotion.
But for those who aren’t fully aware, there are series that could serve as a gateway to appreciating the lesser known platform.
First, “Cowboy Bebop”, for example, is a series by renowned anime creator Shinchiro Watanabe which centers on a crew of misfit bounty hunters in a far off future where space travel is frequent as is danger.
The series takes inspiration from western films, often exploring philosophical aspects of each character and the depth of human emotion.
It is easily accessible to anime fans and those who are less aware because it embodies an energy of poignant self awareness that anyone can relate to pivotal moments in their life.
Also, the horror series, “Another”, is an anime that is largely unknown.
It’s a shame, given its brilliant creativity that is on par with some of the most successful series in anime and the horror genre in general.
What makes this one a great series is its ability to create an overwhelming sense of anxiety and mystery that leaves viewers guessing from beginning to end.
Horror fans can appreciate the gutsy choices and deaths that they take, solidifying “Another” as conceptual perfection in every way.
Finally, If you are someone who likes layers to plot and character growth, the series “No. 6” is a strong example of an anime that can enlist a diverse pool of fans.
It has not caught on with many just yet, but could surely be viewed as something unique and contextual over the course of the sci-fi story.
“No. 6” achieves what many movies and television series have yet to attain by presenting characters who aren’t defined or limited to a label.
Characters discover their own path in a world that forces them to face their views of what humanity is capable of, whilst acknowledging truths about themselves that remained unseen until tested by the ever changing society they are apart of.
