It was not your typical church service when Australian worship band Hillsong United came to the Selland Arena in Fresno, California on May 16, 2016.

Lauren Daigle, 2015 GMA (Gospel Music Awards) Dove Awards New Artist of the Year, started off the night and those in attendance instantly got into the spirit-filled mood of the evening. With closed eyes and lifted hands, Daigle’s music ushered in a spirit of peace, calmness and love.

Hillsong United came onto the stage and provided three hours of beautiful music. The band took breaks in between songs to talk about topics that were pertinent to the times of today. Topics that not only addressed the church but the entire world such as world hunger and providing assistance for the millions who have been displaced due to the war in Syria.

Hillsong United played songs from their latest album “Empires” and played many songs that they have written throughout the years including “Oceans”, which got everyone up and out of their seats. The band took a pause during their set to invite a fan onto stage and partake in communion with them. The performance included interaction with the crowd, videos in between songs, and lights and graphics that demonstrated how much worship music has evolved while still maintaining its integrity and ability to inspire.

Not only was everyone united in voice as they sung every song, they were united in mind and spirit.
