The Dungeons & Dragons club is open to all players of D&D at Fresno City College and meets every Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Old Administration Building in room 188.
Joining the club just requires you to enter the club and sign in. It currently has over 30 members and over 60 members on Discord.
Toby Gonzales is the president of the D&D club, with a major in vocal and guitar. He has been playing D&D for over 2 years.
Gonzales believes that the club is about meeting new people that share the same interests.
“It’s about getting together and finding new people to socialize with,” Gonzales said.
The club opens new abilities for what you need in the future.
“It can give you some skills at being social and has been proven that D&D players can add these to their resumes for jobs such as gathering parties and organizing them,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales shares what he likes about the D&D club.
“Being able to see people interested in it and gathering the community,” he said.
Gonzales says that the D&D club focuses on fun for the club members and recommends others should join the club to try new things.
“The people are passionate, very beginner friendly, different campaign choices, and members that are eager to assist beginners,” Brandon Zurita, D&D club member and allied health major said.
Zurita has been playing D&D for 2 weeks.
“Roleplaying in the gambling elements, and just the vast amount of lore,” Zurita said.
Gabriel Venegas, club member and food and nutrition major said he likes the roleplay and social aspects of the club and the game.
“The members are fairly nice and it’s very newcomer friendly,” Venegas said.
Venegas has been playing D&D for 2 years. There was a sense of passion for D&D within the club and its members, and club meetings have a positive environment.
Every member of the club was socially engaging and embraced the world of D&D.
Marisol Baca, the club advisor, said the club ICC representative Chace Gavin, Gonzales and a few others established the club in the fall 2023 semester.
“We’ve [the club] participated in club rushes, fall carnivals and end of the year events. The club has had good participation from many students,” she said.
