A volunteer fair was held at Fresno City College on Jan. 28. Over 30 nonprofit organizations were at FCC Campus Mall looking for student volunteers.
Students can volunteer for organizations without having any background in that field.
“The only requirement they ask for in their volunteers is reliability and the willingness to learn,” Brandon Miller, an employee from Saint Agnes Medical Center, said.
Hugo Morrison, chair of voter education for the Fresno County Democrats, said they offer a variety of opportunities depending on the person.
“Say you’re very social and like to go out and talk to people, we do events such as this where we go out in the community. Say you’re not too social and want to do something from home, we have opportunities where you can do social media workshops where you can do social media jobs and build up those skills,” Morrison said.
According to Morrison, the Fresno County Democrats have something for everybody.
Another organization that was at the fair was the Kings River Conservation. Lori Werner, a representative of the Kings River Fisheries Management Program, said they offer monthly trash cleanups on the Kings River.
The organization has a trout incubator where they will be hatching 140,000 eggs and releasing them Feb. 20.
