“I’m hearing more and more people say the level of violence on video games is really shaping young people’s thoughts,” President Trump said during a meeting at the White House.

With all the violence going on in the United States recently, it’s easy to blame it all on violent video games.  However, there are many positive effects to video games.

Here are four ways video games are beneficial:

1. Coordination

There is a lot going on in a video game.  In order to play a video game, you have to coordinate your visuals, audio, and physical movements.  All this will improve your coordination skills.

2. Reduce Stress

Video games are seen as a way to escape reality. Many people play video games to ease their pain or stress. Instead of taking a painkiller or drug, just play video games.  You’d be surprised at how much of a distraction it can be.

3. Multitasking

You’re not just looking at a television screen while doing nothing.  You have to focus on moving your character while also moving the camera.  So not only are you focusing on the controls of the game, but you’re also paying attention to the story of the game.

4. Social

If you play multiplayer games, you will end up talking to other people online.  This is extremely beneficial. You have to cooperate with other players by talking to complete a mission.  Not only are you having fun, but you are also gaining great communication skills.
