Linda Quinn was born to perform.
She has been performing since she was four years old and has loved every minute of it.
“I love, love, love it,” Quinn said. “I’m very animated and I love performing my life. As I walk into a store, I start performing.” Quinn had starred in “6 Rooms River Vu” during the summer of 1985.
Quinn has been passing on her love of acting to students of all ages. She began to teach acting at Dana Jr. High School in San Pedro, California in 1967. She later taught at the Lab School at the University of Northern Colorado where she was Dept. Chair. Then in 1975, Quinn began teaching at Fresno City College.
During her time at FCC, Quinn has taught Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication as well as Beginning and Intermediate Acting. What makes Quinn so unique is the connection she has with students. “As soon as you walk into my classroom, you become my baby” says Quinn. ”I love the students, and I feel their love for me.”
But now, Quinn is set to say goodbye to her “babies” as she prepares for retirement.
Nevertheless, Quinn will remain in the memories of the many students she touched. Throughout her teaching career, Quinn made her students enthusiastic about acting, by showing them lots of love and staying enthusiastic herself. “Students have given me the nickname, ‘Momma Drama’,” she says. “I feel a maternal relation with my students. I bring love to my students.”
Outside of FCC, she has been writing small little spiritual booklets, and has done radio and TV commercials. Additionally, Quinn has narrated a number of educational films for NASA.
During her retirement, Quinn plans to continue writing her spiritual booklets, do volunteer work, and substitute on the FCC campus and other schools as well. She said, “I just want God to lead me and try to make the world a little better than I found it.”
She will also continue to perform. “One of the most important things I am proud of doing is the One Woman Show,” Quinn says.
During her teaching tenure, Quinn was nominated for ‘Who’s Who among America’s Teachers’, which accepts nominations from students only.
Quinn’s students connect with each other and their “momma” through a Facebook page called “Momma’s Babies.”
As she leaves her beloved students, Quinn says, “I’ll be sad because I will miss my babies.”
Quinn will be honored on Dec. 10 at 2:00 p.m. during the Production of “The Drunken City” at the FCC Theater.’”
