After a delay due to a computer glitch and three days of voting, Nathan Alonzo was elected the President of Fresno City College’s Associated Student Government on Friday.
Alonzo spent the 2011-2012 school year serving as a Senator and later as Legislative Vice President, following the mid-year shakeup in ASG.
Accompanying Alonzo in the new ASG administration are his two running mates, Rachel McKinley, Legislative Vice President-elect, and Caitlin Mack, Executive Vice President-elect. The three ran the only ticket among the slate of candidates hoping to join the new ASG administration.
According to the Student Activies office, which sanctions the election, 679 students voted in the delayed election, which was down about 200 voters from last April.
Rounding out ASG’s Executive Board are current Senators Grisanti Valencia, now President Pro Tempore-elect, and Mike Wilson, student Trustee-elect.
All eight of the Senate candidates were elected, as each only had to garner one vote because of the less-than-full slate of candidates. The new senators are: Rosalinda Barba, Jose Chavez, Mia Chennault, James Demaree, Hugo Garcia, Nathan Squire, Rene Villa and Josh Zamora.
