Formerly known as finals aid week, Ram Slam has been created by ASG to help students prepare for finals this semester. Ram Slam is on December 5, 6, 10, and 11 from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Ram Slam offers the computer lab, quiet classrooms, tutors, the tutorial center, as well as scantrons. Snack and coffee are also provided for students.
Things to do in order to study for finals according to the ASG President Monique Reyna are to not procrastinate, make flash cards, have the needed materials, and talk to the instructors to understand the final better.
“Listening to notes or lectures in the car is a great way to study for finals and tests,” said Edward James, Senator for ASG.
Some resources for students include Ram Slam, wifi, RAP sessions, librarians, the student government office, teachers, and the bookstore on campus. All types of scantrons are available at Ram Slam, including other supplies.
“This school is focused on helping students succeed. Students should take advantage of this opportunity,” said Monique.
According to Edward James and Monique Reyna of ASG, students can be less stressed about finals by getting a lot of sleep, preparing ahead of time, studying, and eating a health breakfast.
ASG strongly encourages students to attend Ram Slam in order to be more prepared and less stressed for finals.
The Tutorial Center has open hours as well as evenings, computers, and the reading and writing center. Tutors are available to help in all subjects.
The tutors selected for the tutorial center must have 2 faculty recommendations, a B or better in the subject, and must go through a tutor training course.
“Don’t be afraid to ask for help,” said Tabitha Villalba, the writing and reading coordinator at the tutorial center.
The tutorial center has hand out that student can pick up in order to learn a few quick things about a subject or how to do something.
“Don’t go in for tutoring at the lowest of the low,” said Tabitha.
