*UPDATED: 2/16/13 – Added a comment from President Cantu.*
The accreditation of Fresno City College is reaffirmed. The school was placed on accreditation warning one year ago and required to address several issues to retain its accreditation.
“I’m very pleased, said Tony Cantu, president of Fresno City College. “The Commission has recognized the work that we have done.”
The announcement was sent to the faculty in an email by Cantu.
“At its January 11-12, 2013 meeting, the Commission took action to remove Fresno City College from warning and reaffirm accreditation,” Cantu said in his email.
The commission had one additional request.
“The Commission also took action to require the college to submit a follow-up report that demonstrates that we have fully addressed District Recommendation 1 by October 15, 2013,” Cantu’s email read.
Cantu wrote a thank you to the faculty and staff.
“I would like to thank each and every one of you for your efforts on behalf of the college and our students.”
