Students gathered on March 4 in Sacramento for the annually held “March in March” rally, where more than 5,000 students from around California unified seeking education reform from state legislation.
Students of California State Universities, community colleges and Universities of California, peacefully marched over one mile to the steps of the state capital, to rallied together to promote a change in our educations systems. Some were asking for tuition decreases, a stop on bills that would set a 90-unit cap on students in community colleges, or what actions our policy makers are taking with Prop 30, which passed last year.
The march was met with guest speakers including California Senator Noreen Evans, American Civil Liberties Union member Tiffany Wok.
Each speaker took a different variation of the stance that California’s education policy must be changed. The speakers also emphasized the need for themselves and students to continue the fight for education policy reform.
Following the speeches, groups of students went inside the state capital, to lobby and pursue legislators and officials into further hearing their cause.
