A fire erupted in the engine area of a parked car today in a Fresno City College parking lot on the corner of Van Ness and McKinley Avenues.
Fresno Fire Department received the call at 6:14 p.m. and immediately responded.
Firefighters arrived on scene soon enough to prevent the fire from spreading to “neighboring vehicles.”
The team of firefighters had no official comment to make regarding the cause of the fire, but firemen on site said that fires like these are a daily occurrence.
Chelsea Bonbrake, FCC psychology major and owner of the 1999 Honda Civic, said, “I just bought it today.”
Her father, Ted Bonbrake, said, “This is going to scar her for life, so she’ll need [psychology] now.” He then stated that firefighters told him the fire appeared to have been an electrical one.
