Over 125 participate in speech competition on campus

Over 125 Fresno City College students participated in the Communication Department’s Intramural Speech competitions, the Fine and Performing Arts Division Dean, Neil Vanderpool said.
Eight Fresno State student judges and 10 faculty and administration were also in attendance on April 21, Vanderpool said. The winners from this debate competition will face off with the winners of the fall semester competition on May 9 in the Old Administration Building room 114.
Student Antonio Jarregui took first place in the Persuasive Speaking competition on Wednesday. Oswald Shiles and Lalo Guzman took second and third respectively.
Three students — Treshon Eatmon, Juan Manzano and Carlos Cordova — came out as finalists
In the Informative Speaking competition, Kuljeet Saughara won first place, while Michael Gillespie and Jay Rea took second and third respectively. Finalists for that competition included students Isaiah Addision, Reggie Deleon, Noe Lozano, Gabriel Jimenez and Genevieve Ortiz.
