This year’s commencement ceremony to be the largest in FCC history
The 2016 Fresno City College graduation ceremony is expected to be the largest in the college’s history, Kathy Bonilla, spokeswoman for the college said.
Bonilla said approximately 1,487 students are expected to take part in the commencement ceremony on May 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Selland Arena in downtown Fresno.
The previous record for graduates from the community college was held at 1,225 last year, Bonilla said. Graduates who participate in the ceremony have earned a Associates in Arts or Associates in Science degrees.
The Community Media Access Collaborative (CMAC) is scheduled to air the ceremony live on its education channels on Comcast channel 94 and AT&T channel 99.
Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims is the distinguished alumna this year. Graduates will hear from the featured commencement speaker, Rabiah Rahman, a 2006 graduate of the college and recipient of the Dean’s Medallion.
Rahman graduated from the UCLA and UC Berkeley schools of law and is currently an attorney in Southern California.
