The Asian American Faculty and Staff Association are hosting a Valentine’s fundraiser in support of its annual graduation ceremony for students of Asian or Pacific Islander descent.

This will be the first time that Asian American Faculty and Staff Association is hosting the Valentine Gram fundraiser for Fresno City College.

The Valentine grams will consist of assorted chocolates with some Asian candies as an added twist along with a message of the buyer’s choice.

The cost for the Valentine gram will be $5.

Students who buy a gram are also expected to pick up their deliveries from HS212 as Asian American Faculty and Staff Association is not doing delivery for students, only for faculty.

The fundraiser is held from Feb. 7 – Feb. 11 for orders which can be made by emailing Mai Lee at [email protected]

Asian American Faculty and Staff Association are getting orders and support from the community.

“We really do appreciate that we are getting support cause we weren’t even sure if we’re going to even have orders,” said Lee, an adjunct counselor at FCC.

Their biggest concern was whether or not the fundraiser would be recognized on campus to meet their goals.

Asian American Faculty and Staff Association’s hopes to raise $1,000 but are aiming for at least $500 with the fundraiser.

With the money raised, they plan to help provide graduation stoles for the students participating in the graduation ceremony along with hosting events to celebrate those students.

“We see the support that is going towards the Asian American community and especially towards our students and their success and celebrating that,” said Ia Xiong, the chair and vice president of Asian American Faculty and Staff Association.

There will be applications for students to fill out in order to participate in the annual graduation ceremony, but it has not been published to the public at this time.

Asian American Faculty and Staff Association are also doing a silent auction on Feb. 28 from 8 a.m. to 11:59 a.m.
