Campus Theater Remodeled, Students Unaware of Change
Fresno City College Theater of Arts and Dance was remodeled with new chairs, carpet and walls. Many students were unaware of the change and surprised.
The theater was remodeled over the summer of 2021.
It was remodeled during the pandemic because of less on campus activity.
The theater was last remodeled in 1970. Before 2021, it had old-school wood paneling, chairs and carpet. Now, the theater has more of a “modern” feeling.
New chairs were installed, fresh gray paint, and new carpet was put in. Signage was also installed. The theater was configured to meet ADA requirements including additional ADA seating.
“It was amazing, like what a coat of paint does to your house. It changes everything, makes it really clean and fresh,” Luna said.
“Our students are working in that space. When you’re doing a college production and you’re there day in and day out, being able to work in a beautiful, clean space our students deserve that,” Luna said.
Many FCC students were unaware of the remodeling. After being informed of the new installations, many expressed surprise.
“Maybe make it more known the theater was being remodeled,” Bryan Garcia, psychology major, said.
