The new Social Justice Club has been established in the social justice center at Fresno City College. The club aims to be a place for students to have a safe place to discuss and get involved in social justice issues.
Kyle Osborne, president of the Social Justice Club explains that the club acts as a coordination hub for various campus clubs to facilitate collaboration on projects and events.
“The club aims to support demonstrations and informative activities,” Osborne said.
The club’s leadership consists of the president, vice president, treasurer and other roles yet to be defined. The club currently has 12 members and has plans to expand.
Paul Gilmore, an advisor for the new Social Justice Club emphasizes that students join based on their interest and motivation. The Social Justice Center provides a space for students to meet and connect with like-minded individuals.
“I would encourage anyone with any interest in any social justice issues to join and to participate in the club,” Gilmore said.
The club plans to participate in the next club rush event to recruit new members and raise awareness about the club. The club plans to get involved in demonstrations and activities and organize larger events that attract larger audiences such as speakers and panel discussions.
Any students interested in joining the club can stop by the Social Justice Center in Old Administration Building room 139. The club meets weekly on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m.
