Central California Blood Center and the Big Fresno Fair are collaborating for the 14th year in a row to bring you “Pint For a Pass.” This program allows anyone who donates blood at any CCBC location to receive a buy-one, get-one free ticket voucher for the fair.
The program lasts around eight weeks, which started Aug. 27 and ends Oct. 14, the final day of the fair.
“It’s a really great partnership, we’re really thankful for the Fresno Fair for partnering with us for this long,” marketing and communications manager for the CCBC, Taylor Thatcher said.
With ticket prices this year being set at $15 per adult, taking advantage of this offer may be hard to refuse. But aside from benefiting your wallet, it also helps the community.
With every donation made to the CCBC you could save up to three lives, according to Elise Mejia, the assistant manager of donor outreach and education for the CCBC.
“It could be a baby, it could be a mother, it could be somebody’s grandparents, your neighbor,” Mejia said. “Blood can’t be manufactured, it has to come from people like you and I.”
The impact of donating is huge and the process is easy, according to Mejia.
The process in total takes around 30 minutes, involving a form to fill out, a health screening and the donation itself. But when the needle goes in, it comes back out in 10 to 15 minutes.
“You feel leaving here amazing, knowing that you could potentially save somebody’s life, and knowing that you had a huge impact on a patient here locally in our hospitals,” Mejia said.
