Regina Leyba is in her second year at Fresno City College. She is hoping to transfer to a UC school. She feels FCC is her best chance of reaching that goal.
Leyba credits her mom with her introduction to tennis at age six.
“My mom started playing tennis, she took me to lessons when I was younger,” she said.
During her time at San Joaquin Memorial high school Leyba started taking the game seriously.
Leyba feels this season is going “really well” so far. The women’s tennis team had a lot of pre season games and she is now focused on the conference.
In this season’s first conference game, Leyba and her doubles partner Kate Abston had a remarkable comeback
“We were down 2-7 and then we caught up and won 9-7 so that was pretty good,” said Leyba.
