Fresno City College womens basketball’s five sophomores signed letters of intent to play for a four year universities on April 30.
Forward Nicole Chapple will be attending California State University, San Bernardino. Chapple is the leading scorer in Clovis High School history for girls basketball and averaged 11.6 points per game and 6.7 rebounds in her sophomore season at FCC.
“It was exciting to see all the sophomores get a scholarship that I came in with,” said Chapple.
Corcoran High School’s Tabitha Torres is going to Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. While at FCC torres averaged 17.6 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game in her final season.
“I know I am going to be starting my life and it is something I am looking forward to,” said Torres.
Sarah Mendoza is going to Southwestern Oklahoma State University with Taryn and Sarina Sayama. Mendoza in her last season at FCC averaged 7.5. points per game and 4.3 assist.
“I makes me feel better to go with the Sayama twins because I have known them for a very long time,” said Mendoza.
Sarina averaged 6.2 rebounds and 13.4 points per game.
“I’m glad my family got to be here and witness us signing because that is what they wanted for us,” said Sarina.
Taryn finished her career as a Ram with averaging 14 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
“I am going to take my athletic ability, toughness and drive to southwestern,” said Taryn.
“If this was my last year, this is the type of team I would want to retire on,” head coach Brian Tessler. “This team left me with nothing but good feelings.”
