Head Coach Rhonda Williams is impressed with her team’s performance and feels confident going into the playoffs.
Q: What are you impressions of the current season so far? Has the team met your expectations or exceeded them?
A. Williams: This team has definitely exceeded my expectations and has done an awesome job this year. They figured out how to play together as a team; hitting the ball, playing good defense and good pitching. We’ve put it all together, and they have done a great job
Q: How has the team improved from the start of the season?
A: Williams: Since the fall semester when we started, this team has changed dramatically. They came together and figured out how to work together. We have some strong sophomores who have taken good leadership, but also the freshman have really stepped in and have done a tremendous job.
Q: How did the team overcome the injury within the pitching staff?
A: Williams: We only had one injury and it was right in the midpoint of the season when we were going to tournaments, which made it a little rough because it put a little more pressure on our other pitchers and they had to put more innings in. But we figured it and they did a great job Now we have three healthy pitchers that are ready to take us into playoffs.
Q: What do you expect from the playoffs, and how do you feel the team stacks up against the other teams in the playoffs?
A: I think we stack up really well. We are playing so well right now; if we can take this momentum right into playoffs, I think we’ll have just as much of a chance as anyone else.
