The Fresno City College Baseball team opened up its playoff series against Laney College with a 7-5 win.
Starting pitcher Dominic Topoozian pitched 9 and a third innings and notched 7 strikeouts in the game. First baseman Ryne Dean added offensively for FCC with a long, solo home run to right field in the second inning.
Laney’s Todd Burgos answered with a 2 run triple in the top of the third to put the Eagles on the board. That would be the first of his 3 hits in the game.
Even though The Rams led the whole game they still found themselves holding off a late comeback attempt by the Eagles in the ninth inning. This included two pitching changes for the Rams. The Eagles finished the game with runners stranded.
The teams will continue their best of 3 series at 11 a.m. at Euless Park tomorrow.
