The Fresno City College Rams baseball team defeated the Laney College Eagles 12-1 on Saturday to sweep the series 2-0 and advance to the Super Regionals.
The two teams battled it out for game two, with no score until the fourth inning where FCC scored six runs and Laney scored one run. Things got worse for the Eagles as they made multiple errors throughout the game.
With the heat wearing down the teams, the umpire put the game on pause so the players could hydrate themselves.
In the fifth inning FCC scored two more runs. And in the seventh inning, FCC’s center fielder, Jackson Glines, hit a homerun to help his team score four runs. FCC’s Ryne Dean went 4-4, Michael Tittle batted 3-5 and Anthony Hawkins batted 3-5.
With the win Fresno City College advances to the Super Regionals in the NorCal Bracket B, in a four-team double elimination round, with Feather River, Cabrillo College and Sierra College.
Fresno City College travels to play Feather River College on May 10 at 3 p.m. at Sierra College.
