The Fresno City College baseball team will take on Feather River in the Super Regional round of the Nor-Cal playoffs.
The Rams swept their playoff series on May 3-4 against Laney College from Oakland. The Rams defeated the Eagles 7-5 on Friday and came back to crush the Eagles 12-1 in game two on Saturday.
“We played well. Laney was much better than we expected hitting-wise,” FCC head coach Ron Scott said. “In the second game we just erupted and our team can do that offensively.”
First baseman Ryne Dean hit a home run in the bottom of the second inning that started a four-run-scoring-flurry by the Rams in game one. Dean followed it up in the second game by batting 4-for-4 while scoring two runs and two RBIs.
“There was a little bit of a struggle at the end of the game on Friday,” said Dean. “We let a couple runs in the ninth but overall, we’re playing really well. We’re hitting the crap out of the ball.”
Pitcher Dominic Topooimproved his record to 6-2. Topoozian added eight strikeouts to his CVC leading 84 strikeouts in the winning effort but hit three batters.
The Rams now face Feather River, who came into the postseason with a 17-5 record in the Golden Valley Conference.
