The Fresno City College women’s basketball team held its 7th Annual Dinner Dance fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 26.
“The dinner dance is to draw people in to gain attendance at our games and kind of get them to see the girls outside of basketball,” said head coach Brian Tessler. “It’s our final fundraiser and probably biggest fundraiser of the year.”
The event began with head coach Brian Tessler introducing the entire team and coaching staff along with their spouses.
“The night was good, we all got to dress up and spend time together outside of the gym,” said sophomore post Leslie Ahlenslanger.
The fundraiser is a tool to let the local supporters of the program have time to interact with the team as well as show their support by bidding on multiple items ranging from cupcakes to week-long vacations in a private cabin on the beach. A cabin in the Wine Country, along with wine tastings, was auctioned for $1,100.
“This year, everyone had a lot more energy and were willing to bid,” said former FCC women’s basketball player Kayla Clement, “so it was very successful.”
