Fresno City College women’s volleyball team is on their way to finishing the regular season as undefeated Central Valley Conference champions. The No. 3 state-ranked FCC Rams have two games left against unranked West Hills Coalinga College Eagles and Taft College Cougars. The Eagles currently hold the record of 0-17 while the Cougars’ is 15-7.
The team is on a 11-game winning streak. Their last two matches ended 3-0 over the Reedley College Tigers and the Merced College Blue Devils. The Rams hosted their last conference game of the season against the Reedley Tigers.
With such successful standings thus far into the season, naturally morale is high for the team, as it begins preparations for state regionals.
“Not to be confused with cockiness, but definitely confidence,” said sophomore outside hitter Caitlin Marinos.
“The women’s volleyball team has won every game played both away and at home since their 3-2 loss to the currently ranked No. 2 Cabrillo College Seahawks.”
“Volleyball is more like a mental game than anything,” said Marinos. “Part of it is skill but most of it is mental.”
The California Community College Women’s Volleyball Coaches Association currently ranks FCC No. 3 in the state with a 12-0 record in the Central Valley Conference.
