The Fresno City College rams football opened up their 2014 season with a blowout victory against De Anza College 52 to 7.
The No.12 ranked rams opened up the scoring with a five-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Christian Rossi to sophomore wide receiver Ray Martin. From that point on they never looked back
“We took what the defense gave us tonight,” said Head Coach Tony Caviglia. “We played well in all phases of the game and it showed on the scoreboard.”
FCC rushed for 334 yards on the day. They had four runnings back touch the ball who rushed for a combined 254 yards.
“We have really good running backs, it was fun watching them run tonight,” said Caviglia
Freshman Jeremy Smith led the Rams with 103 yards on six carries. He got into the end zone twice including a 69 yarder in the third quarter.
“This group of runners are special, they compete every day,” said runnings back coach Jesus Reyes
FCC was relentless on defense, getting after the opposing quarterback all game long. The rams finished with four sacks, two from sophomore defensive lineman Sam Awrabi and two for fellow sophomore defensive lineman Wyatt Mcbee.
FCC will go on the road for their next 2 games, playing against Sierra College and City College of San Francisco before coming back home Sept. 27 to face Butte College.
