Coach Retires after Tigers Suspension
Reedley College’s Football head coach is retiring after his team was suspended from postseason play for two years for illegal recruitment practices.
An outside investigator found that Randy Whited provided his players inducements and special privileges which are not available to the general student population.
The practice of — subsidizing, inducements, and special privileges — is prohibited according to ByLaw 2.11.2 and 2.11.4.
Reedley College Athletic Director, Javier Renteria was not available for comment, nor was Sandra Caldwell, the president, who opened the investigation.
Tony Caviglia, head coach of the Fresno City College football team has not yet commented on the situation. The Rams have a seven game winning streak against the Tigers.
“It’s unfortunate for that program,” said the Rams’ Sophomore Safety Tajhe Moore who went 2-0 in his tenure versus the Tigers. “Hopefully, it doesn’t set them back and they can bounce back.”
