Fresno City Football declines State Center Bowl bid following post game brawl
Fresno City College’s athletic department has declined the bid to play in the State Center Bowl.
The decision came after a meeting between athletic director Eric Swain, dean of athletics Lorraine Smith, FCC President Carole Goldsmith and head football coach Tony Caviglia, according to a report by ABC 30.
FCC spokeperson Lucy Ruiz released a statement regarding the school’s decision.
In part the statement reads: “We recognize that the vast majority of our players made the right choice and walked away from a post-game confrontation. However, there were a few players who did not live up to the FCC code of ethics as sudent-athletes.”
The decision brings a fitting end to a disappointing season where the team went 5-5.
