Fresno City Women’s Soccer Cruises to Win Over Solano
The Fresno City College women’s soccer team walked away with an 8-0 win Friday, Sept. 14 against Solano Community College. The consistent pressure put on by the Ram’s offense was too much for the opposition as they were getting scoring chances left and right to move their record to 5-1-1.
From the starting whistle the Rams were all over the Falcon. The Rams were quicker and more explosive on both sides of the ball, it was clear that Fresno City was the more dominant team.
“We talked about playing with more energy,” coach Oliver Germond said in a post game interview when asked what the game plan was going into the game. “I felt last game we struggled a little bit to support each other on offense, and just having better supporting runs.”
The game plan worked out well as the Rams headed into the half with a 4-0 lead.
Fresno City were led by a hat trick from Raina Wristen, and an outstanding goal from outside the 18-yard box by Brianna Figueroa. The Rams defense was phenomenal throughout as they were able to help Goalkeeper Ruby Campa pick up another clean sheet, her fifth on the year.
“We’re excited for the challenge,” coach Germond said when asked about his thoughts heading into Bakersfield College (5-0) next week, hoping to continue the momentum of Friday’s win. Both teams are atop the standings in their conferences, so the matchup could be a huge factor for FCC when for playoff rankings.
