Rams Baseball Team is Preparing for the Playoffs

Fresno City College’s Rams baseball team has had a great season leading up to the playoffs winning 30 games out of 40.

In their final regular season game, they beat the West Hills Coalinga baseball team 4-0 on Saturday at 1 p.m.

This season, their record at home is 13-6 while their record on the road is 12-2.

Head baseball coach Ron Scott is pleased with the team’s progress this season and is looking forward to the playoffs.

“The goal for this season was to win the league championship and get into the state playoffs which we’ve achieved. Now that we’re in them, we want to play the best we can and win the state title,” Scott said.

Scott has recently coached the Rams to their 24th league championship under him for his 33rd season.

He said that making sure players are healthy is a major priority for the team going into the playoffs.

“Our strategy is that we’re going to keep doing what we’re doing. We have good defense, we rely on our pitching and to just play good solid baseball,” Scott said.

Scott is looking forward to watching the team play in the playoffs after all their hard work to win a state championship.

“If we make a mistake, we immediately pick up the person who made it,” Scott said.

Rams catcher and Kinesiology major, Ryan Naranjo, is looking forward to the playoffs.

“I think we’re doing better than expected this year, we’re on a roll,” Naranjo said.

Naranjo believes that the team can improve their offense heading into the playoffs.

Third baseman and business administration major, Bradley Senneway, is also looking forward to the playoffs.

“I think we can always improve, we can hit better, pitch better, play defense better… there’s a lot of things we can do to improve,” Senneway said.

Rams catcher and business finance major Trent Alles believes they’ll have a pretty good run coming into the playoffs.

“Right now, the back end of our bullpen is a little weak so we’re tryna[sic] figure out how to get some guys healthy,”Alles said.
