In an intense showdown, the Fresno City College Women’s basketball team triumphed over Reedley College Tigers on Feb. 19, 66-48. The game showcased the team’s dedication and determination leading them to a well deserved victory.
Alex Fletcher, the head coach of the women’s basketball team, remarked on the team’s readiness against the Tigers.
“We went into the game excited and ready to compete and play hard and I thought we did a good job at that,” Fletcher said.
As for the future of the team, Fletcher said, “The girls have one more league game and then we’ll start playoffs at a home game on March 1.”
Remni White, who is a point guard and T’Yanna Armstrong, who is a guard for the FCC women’s basketball team had a lot to say about this game as well.
“At first the game felt a little slow, and the energy felt off but we definitely picked it up,” Armstrong said.
As soon as the crowd’s energy surged, the arena was transformed into a roaring sea of support that lifted the teams spirits.
Reflecting on the team’s momentum, White said, “We are for sure excited to move forward, we’ve secured second spot and we’re going into the playoffs.”
Discussing the team’s resilience throughout the season, White said, “It can definitely be hard when there are so many outside factors like reps getting in your head or how missing your shots can get into your head.”
She went on to emphasize the importance of teamwork and staying focused despite these challenges.
“All these things can get into your head but I think just finding it within your teammates to really keep each other motivated and working together and when you find that within each other, you’re good to go,” White said.
The Rams have an upcoming home game on March 1 to start their postseason run.
