On Friday May 2. The first game of the California Community College Athletic Association regional playoffs Fresno City College beat Cosumnes River College in a best-of-three series 2-0. It was a great turnout with the stands being mostly full.
At the top of the first inning Cosumnes River had three batters up with two batters being fly outs. One batter had three strikes due to FCC pitcher Sara Barbosa.
In the bottom of the first inning Lexi Rossoti, first hitter for the Rams, singled to third base. Sayler Steiner missed the ball for strike three, but Rossoti stole second base. Stephanie Sanchez flied out to center field. Olivia Moscardi hit a flied out to right field that was FCC third out with a runner left on base.
At the top of the second inning CRC batter Kalani Hernandez struck out to FCC pitcher Sara Barbosa. Moscardi caught both CRC batters.
In the bottom of the second inning CRC caught out each Rams batter.
In the third inning the Rams third baseman Jayden Herrera hit a home run. The Rams led 1-0.
In the bottom of the 6 inning Moscardi reached first on a fielding error and baserunner Rossetti scored. The Rams led 2-0.
Ram’s Right fielder Jade Huerta homered to left field which brought home base runners Katrina Rodriguez and Moscardi along with Huerta. The Rams led 5-0.
The Rams led the series 1-0.
The Rams went on and lost game two in the best-of-three series. The Rams lost 5-4.
The Rams went on to take the series and win game three 2-0 to advance to the super regionals of the CCCAA playoffs with the #8 seed rams advancing they will be on the road for the rest of the playoffs.
