After losing the first of a three game series against the Reedley Tigers, the Fresno City College baseball team defeated the Tigers 6-1 on Thursday. The Rams lost game one 7-3 on Wednesday but still managed to step up and get the win the following night.
The Rams’ bats came alive, having consistent contact with the ball and scoring runs left and right throughout the game.
Designated hitter Justin Florez and right fielder Christian Parra led the way for the Rams with two RBIs each while second baseman Anders Nelson and third baseman Jack Karraker contributed with one RBI each.
FCC pitcher Dominic Topoozian recorded 11 strikeouts while allowing one walk, eight hits, and one run. The Rams will be counting on Topoozian even more now that pitcher Christian Belleque has a torn tendon in his arm.
Reedley was quiet until the bottom of the eighth inning when they scored their only run of the game. FCC third baseman Karraker made an error of dropping a ground ball by Reedley first baseman Nick Pate and shortstop Jonathan Chapa was able to score.
Parra redeemed the Rams during the top of the ninth when he singled and scored in Karraker and Hawkins.
FCC and Reedley play at Fresno City College for game three on Saturday at 1 p.m.
