The Fresno City College baseball team took a 3-1 win at home in game two of their series against Taft College on Thursday.
The Rams scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. First baseman, Ryne Dean doubled, followed by designated hitter Justin Flores, who also doubled and brought Dean home.
Taft answered back with a run of their own during the top of the second. Taft’s left fielder, Josh Roelofs, singled and later stole second. Roelofs advanced to third on a wild pitch and then managed to score on an error by FCC catcher Jeff Brown.
FCC’s Dominic Topoozian pitched the entire game, allowing one walk and striking out 14 batters.
Center Fielder Jackson Glines singled at the top of the sixth inning and stole second thanks to a sacrifice bunt from second baseman Anders Nelson. Taft intentionally walked Flores. Shortly after, Flores and Glines advanced bases due to an error on the part of Taft’s pitcher, Allan Sanchez.
With Flores on second and Glines on third, third baseman Jack Karraker came through in the clutch. Karraker singled, which scored Glines and Flores, and left the game winning score at 3-1 in favor of the Rams.
Although Taft came in with a record of 4-10, they defeated the Rams in game one on Tuesday. Andrew Astone will step up to the mound for the Rams Saturday for the final game of the series at Taft at 1 p.m.
