Hana Tilksew is a 19-year-old second-year college student studying the disciplines of communication, marketing, and journalism. This is her first semester at The Rampage and she’s excited to dive into student journalism.  

Hana has lived all over the United States but moved to California five years ago. Prior joining the team at The Rampage, she had her bylines featured in various magazines and publications where she contributed pieces on style, culture, and the world we live in. Hana received a creative writing certificate from The School of the New York Times and was given the editors’ choice honor by Teen Ink Magazine for a personal essay about her Ethiopian heritage. She is a lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation and the winner of the 2022 Miss City of Fresno’s Teen competition.  

Hana’s favorite forms of journalism are profiles of notable individuals and edge-of-your-seat personal essays. After graduating from a university, she hopes to work in a field where she can utilize her love of writing on the job and make an impact advocating for causes that matter. Her lifelong dream is to become a novelist and write stories for teens and young adults. 

When she’s not writing, Hana can be found whipping up a homemade latte, ripping into a new fantasy novel, or watching a period drama.
