Joel Arellano is 18 years old and was born in Clovis, California but raised in Fresno. He is currently in his first year of college majoring in child development. Joel plans to become a kindergarten teacher after he graduates. Growing up he had a distaste for school and was planning on never going to college at all but realized he would like to help children who struggled like him and decided to go to school to become a teacher.

He grew up in a large family of eight siblings and is the third oldest. He is also a boyfriend, Tio, and soon to be a godfather to his niece. He also owns four pets, two dogs named Minnie and Hydie, and two cats named Evie and Franco. Joel has very little journalism experience, but he loves to write in his free time and is eager to gain some experience as he plans on sticking around next semester.

Other things Joel does in his free time are playing video games on his PS5, reading comic books, and spending time with his family. He also loves film and the process of filmmaking and hopes to work on a film one day. Film is something Joel would like to major in after he gets his degree in child development.
