Michael Fulford, Reporter
Born August 21, 1988, Michael is originally from Southern California. He was born in Huntington Beach and lived in various cities through the area until the age of 7. At that point, he moved with his mother to Sacramento where he spent the remainder of elementary and middle school. Returning to Southern California prior to the start of high school, Michael decided to attend Santa Ana High School while living with his father. Throughout high school, Michael was a standout student-athlete excelling primarily in basketball. Winning multiple awards and achieving much success, Michael continued his basketball career in the college ranks before injuries ended his competitive career.
Although unable to play at a high level, Michael continued his passion for basketball by starting is coaching career at Hoover High School in Fresno. He spent two years as boys freshman coach. He then joined Reedley College as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. After just one year as a college coach, Michael was hired as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Hoover High School where he currently is still the head of the program. His career goal is to serve as a Division 1 college coach.
Michael was also instrumental in the pilot of the P.A.S.S program at Fresno City College. This program aims to aid students with peer tutors for all realms of reading and writing courses. He aims to double major in Kinesiology and Broadcast Sports Journalism, while obtaining a single subject teaching credential in English. Currently, Michael works as a Legal Assistant at a Defense Law Firm but has no plans to pursue a career in law at this time.
