Ivette Bautista, 22, is working on her final semester at Fresno City College. She is graduating this semester as a journalism major and plans to transfer to Fresno State next fall. Ivette was born in Las Vegas, Nevada but was raised in Lindsay, California.
After high school she attended The Art Institute of Hollywood where she majored in photography but when her journey there was cut short, she moved to Fresno. Her experience in Hollywood was life changing and although she is grateful for the opportunities and all that came with it, she is happy to be closer to family. She hopes to bring together her love for photography, sports, and writing to one day work for a sports magazine or a professional sports team.
She touched into the photography world at the age of 12 but didn’t begin to pursue it seriously until her junior year of high school. Sports were a big part of her life from a very young age, but even after playing sports for nine years, she found herself watching from the sidelines her senior year because of injuries. In order to continue to feel that connection to the team and sports overall, she spent a majority of her final year of high school taking photos of the sports teams.
Ivette has always taken herself full speed ahead to reach her goals, but she has come to find the beauty of taking things slow and simply enjoying life. “One of my favorite quotes says that you may never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory… that is why I take photos… because even if the moment doesn’t last forever, the memory can.”
