“Superbad,” the long awaited teen flick of the summer, opened in theatres August 17th in screens nationwide.
Since its debut, this film has created quite a stir amongst younger movie lovers, making it seems like this is going to be the next classic of our time.
Featuring a talented cast consisting of Michael Cera, playing the very quiet and intelligent Evan, Jonah Hill playing Evan’s outgoing friend Seth, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse playing the role of the quirky Fogell, this movie was an instant hit among those who watched it its debut week.
“Superbad” starts out by introducing two best friends, Evan and Seth, who are in the last weeks of their senior year and want to go out with a bang.
Feeling out of the loop, the two boys begin strategizing to begin luring females into their lives and have a good time in the process.
Their search for love and alcohol leads them to their rather awkward friend Fogell, who has gotten his hands on a fake I.D. by under the name of McLovin.
The adventures only begin there, as the mischievous boys go out on somewhat of a quest to reach their crushes at the party of the year.
Although some may view the movie as rather vulgar due to its strong sexual content, the film doesn’t fail to make you laugh at the crazy antics the characters do.
Their ideas are so preposterous that one can’t help but laugh at their ingenuity and sense of humor.
The teen classic may be too much to handle if you are not comfortable with profanity and the use of sexual content in movies.
The typical stereotypes that the normal high school senior follows are very easily seen in this film. This allows for the movie to reach out to many people, in or out of high school, as the characters are very much relatable and down to earth.
Throughout the story, the three protagonists undergo judgments from their fellow classmates as they are seen as social outcasts by their school.
The typical teen labels exist in the plot, you have your “jocks,” “geeks” and “nerds” all rolled into one. These boys, however, try to break free of this image by each going after their own girl and making audiences laugh in the process.
All in all, the movie does impress easygoing people in search of a good laugh.
With a great cast, interesting plot and following traditional themes, this movie is definitely one of the hit movies of the summer.
