Originally aired: Sunday February 25, 1990 on FOX
Flashback to Sunday morning: the family is getting ready for church and Homer is preoccupied with a football game.
On the way into church Marge confiscates Bart’s personal radio with earphones and gives them to Homer. During Sunday school the teacher and students discuss the topic of who is allowed in Heaven.
Back in the church while the sermon is about sports and gambling; Homer is oblivious because he is using Bart’s headphones to listen to the game.
On the way home from church Marge expresses her disapproval of Homer’s headphones.

In the 1990’s, President Bill Clinton had a long history of tearing at the moral fiber of the nation with his actions, lies, and cover-ups, legal wrangling and making a mockery of the American public.
Many of our Christian conservative leaders gave us a heavy dose of what Marge Simpson gave Homer in their car on the way home from church because they didn’t want Clinton’s morals to trickle down into our society.
The same people who were good at ripping Clinton are now looking to Rudy Giuliani, the Liberal Republican, who supports abortion, gun control and homosexuality as a lifestyle, to be our next president.
Their erosion of principles even goes deeper than their support for Giuliani, because many of these former morality seekers have masterfully reinterpreted and permitted President George W. Bush to randomly lie to the American people.
You can find many of these Christian Conservatives on Sunday, during Sunday school, discussing the topic of who will be allowed into Heaven, while they conveniently reinterpret and permit most Republican officials attempt to take advantage of our society with lies, in support of the war on terrorism.
Why aren’t these same Christian leaders concerned about Bush’s history of tearing at the moral fiber of the nation with his actions, lies, and cover-ups, legal wrangling and making a mockery of the American public?
Oh, I forgot. Social Conservative voters see another Clinton administration as the worst outcome that can happen in the 2008 election.
Christian conservative like James Dobson, of the conservative advocacy group Focus on the Family, offer staunch support for the President Bush on Iraq and the wider war on terror.
Don’t dare show any concern about the fact that most Republican officials were following Bush’s lead as he was saying we were winning the war in Iraq during the 2006 mid-term campaign.
Now the same groups of people conveniently say that Democrats don’t want to admit that we are FINALLY winning the war & taking it to Al Qaeda in Iraq because of Bush’s surge policy.
They act as if the slogan that they used as a campaign tool “Stay the Course” was an old folk tail told by Davy Crocket while he was being the king of the wild frontier.
Is it that their moral capacity has gone dormant under the Bush administration? No, I believe that it has to do with a society of people, even Christ like people, who hate to admit that they have done wrong when they do something wrong.
America has become more like Homer & Bart Simpson, instead of Lisa & Marge.
It’s even worse, because you can find people like Sean Hannity, who has the No. 2 rated show on the Fox news channel, saying that the people listen to his No.2 rated talk radio show because they believe he tells the truth.
The sadder thing is that the conservative Christians indulge in the same type of jargon (lies) that you can hear on Sean Hannity’s talk show & none of those who follow these leaders care.
No, you wont find any of them sounding like Marge on the way home from church, expressing her disapproval of Homer listening to the game in church, because they are to busy co-sponsoring the new society that should be called, ‘The Erosion of Principles Generation.’
