The hunt for a new Fresno City College president has begun. Selecting a new college president is a much bigger process then just filling out an application and turning it in, said Randy Rowe, Associate Vice-Chancellor for Human resources, State Center Community College District.
Tom Crow, Chancellor of State Center Community College District, the person who is ultimately chosen must be “someone who enjoys being on campus and interacting with students, faculty, and staff, someone who has a great passion for student success and someone who has vision, conviction enjoys the job of being a president.”
Rowe said that selecting the new president includes hiring a search consultant, forming a committee, preparing the criteria for the new position, and then screening applications. Rowe said that most people that are going to be applying for the job would do some research of Fresno in general. They would also contact the search consultant, Dr. Pam Fisher, and talk to her about the job and the Fresno area before filling out and submitting an application.
After the deadline, the search advisory committee screens completed applications and selects candidates for interviews.
The committee will interview those that meet the qualifications and finalists will eventually be chosen. The finalists will hold public forums where the college community will have a chance to review them before they are interviewed by the board of trustees and chancellor. The new president should be in office on January 2, 2009.
