The year has finally started and classes are in full motion. With the new year comes budgeting problems. Many students and staff members are well aware of the fee increase that took effect this semester, but many are still unaware of the situation. “I haven’t really heard anything about [budget cuts], I don’t watch the news,” said freshman Maria Flores.
Other students have experienced the effects of the budget cuts. “It affected me during summer school because I got cut back on some classes,” said freshman Seth Lane. Freshman Tyvon Archie added, “I think it’s a problem. A lot of people lost classes and people got set back. Like for instance, some of my classes got canceled, and I know some people that couldn’t get their classes. It has affected Fresno State Also, it’s been pretty costly.”
While some students have had a rough start this semester, others focus on the excitement of their fist day at FCC. “I’m excited. It’s way different than high school,” said freshman Ashley Chavez.
Some students have also been victims of the parking dilemma. This has been a recurring problem for students at FCC. “Parking is terrible! They should build a parking garage. Today I got trapped in the parking lot for like an hour,” said sophomore Mitchell Siy. It is recommended that students prepare to not be able to find parking in less than an hour, so make sure to be here early and arrive in class on time.
