I decided I was in the mood for Mexican food the other day after class, conviently there was a place called Taqueria Cancun which was on McKinley and Blackstone in between Taco Bell and Frosty’s. I decided to stop by and try it out.
Outside signs listed that there were daily specials offered. When I walked in I saw a “Specials” board which seemed to have read my mind. It offered two carne Asada tacos, bean and rice, and a small drink for $5.50. I went up and ordered the special, which I was told, was a daily special—even better! My total with tax was $5.99 and I took my food to go.
The woman who took my order gave my drink cup and told me it would be a couple minutes. I waited about five minutes for my food. In the time I was waiting I started looking at their menu. I was surprised to see that there entire menu had everything priced less than $10.
They offered many options and combination plates. There was the Cancun Monster Burrito, tortas, tacos, flautas, enchiladas, sopes, quesadillas, salads, and more. The most expensive item on the menu was the fajitas that offered either chicken, beef or shrimp, shrimp being the most expensive item at $8.50. They also offered shrimp cocktail.
Taqueria Cancun also offers breakfast items. They featured a few breakfast burritos such as chorizo and egg burrito, chorizo and potatoes burrito, eggs and nopales.
The soda machine was self serve, and they also offered different flavored Jarritos drinks as well as water and juices.
When my food was ready, the woman allowed me to top my tacos off with my choice of salsa, and then covered my plate and offered me a bag. When I grabbed my stuff to leave she said “Thank you, friend. Have a good day.”
Taqueria Cancun left me with a great impression. The food was delicious and full of flavor. With the great food, low prices and extremely nice customer service, I will definitely return to Taqueria Cancun for my Mexican food cravings.
