Six former Fresno City College athletes were inducted to the Wall of Fame on Aug. 24. This year marks the twenty-fifth induction to the wall of fame, a ceremony that enshrines past FCC athletes who accomplished great things on and off the field.
Clyde Christensen Former FCC Quarterback and current Indianapolis Colts QB coach headlined an outstanding group of former players.
The Cornerstone member was former FCC baseball player, the late Richard “Dick” Selma
Former FCC players, a number of inductees from past years, staff members, current players and family gathered at Pardini’s Cafe in Fresno to honor these members and their at FCC.

Tony Caviglia FCC football coach said, To become a member of the Wall of Fame, “be a good teammate, a good team member, a good player, graduate, and be productive in the community. If you can do that then we’ll have spot on that wall for you”
The late Dick Selma was a pitcher for FCC from 1958-1961, with unbroken records, career wins with 24, season ERA at 0.85 and 349 career strikeouts. He was later drafted by the New York Mets and started in the first game in the history of the San Diego Padres.
“Dick was a great, caring man. He loved all sports and was support of FCC sports, the student athletes here.” said Mike Dermaniwell Sr. an old friend of Selma’s.
Bill Baxter a former lineman for FCC who was inducted said “ Its huge to be part of a group of special players. I went to Sierra, a small school and it felt like a big-time opportunity coming to FCC.”
George Takata of KSEE 24 presented the inductees. The players thanked their former coaches and fellow teammates. Each player shared past memories they enjoyed at their time at FCC.
Ron Faulk an inductee from Chicago who played at FCC from 1982-1983 said “I found out about Fresno from an encyclopedia, came here on a 3-day bus ride, “
Current FCC quarterbacks coach and 2010 inductee Mark Hetherington spoke about former running back Rodney Davis who was inducted this year. “Rodney was a great guy, a leader, and a great football player. He had the ability to do multiple things on the field. He was a guy who went on to do great things as Fresno State.”
The names of the inductees are on marble wall at the entrance of Ratcliffe Stadium.
The wall has a number of former players who are important to the history of FCC. Some past inductees include former Seattle Seahawks Running Back Maurice Morris and current Don Arax Bullard High School football coach.
